Space Age Technologies uses Microsoft’s Office Communication Server 2007 R2 to supply small and medium businesses with a Unified Communications platform that provides immediate benefits, and can be extended through to a fully integrated VoIP solution.

Unified Communications delivers the communication systems commonly used by businesses, such as telephone, email, instant messaging, conferencing, voicemail and fax to the desktop or mobile computing device. Therefore, through a single device, users are able to access multiple communication media and have these communications logged and secured centrally.

Since cost is a key factor for any solution, particularly in the SME market, we have targeted a subset of the Unified Communications services to put in place the platform, with immediate benefits, but at a cost that suits the SME budget. These services include:

• Instant Messaging:
For a quick answer, or immediate communication of some information, an Instant Message (IM) is often a more efficient method of communicating with a colleague, also allowing for more a interactive dialogue, than email.
• Presence:
Easily see when a colleague is available – for a quick question via IM, a call or even a meeting. With tight integration into Microsoft Office 2010 applications, a colleague’s Presence status is easily visible wherever their name appears in emails, calendars, documents or through the Office Communicator client software.
• PC to PC VoIP:
Enable cost effective VoIP calls, even telephone conferences, between colleagues over the internal network or inter-branch links.
• Consolidation of all communication into an Exchange mailbox:
Access, store and even forward multiple communication forms (email, fax, voicemail) centrally – in users’ mailboxes.
• Conferencing:
Easy to set up live meetings across existing inter-branch connections, allowing voice, video communication, as well as desktop sharing – reducing travel costs while also enabling faster and more frequent vital company communication.
